Birmingham Half Marathon 2010 · 24 October 2010 ·

Birmingham Law Centre fights for social justice by providing in-depth legal advice and representation for people who are desperate for advice but cannot pay for a lawyer. It helps homeless people, people in debt as well as people not getting the right benefits or services that they are entitled to.

Story

Update, Tuesday 26 October - Job done! we all safely completed the run on Sunday and we have raised nearly £3,500. Click on the 'raising money for Birmingham Law Centre' link for details of the team.

Congratulations to everyone who ran for us - and to everyone else, please keep donating!

I have raised money for other charities but now I am running the EDF Birmingham Half Marathon for a cause much closer to home.

I am the Chief Executive of the Birmingham Law Centre, a voluntary organisation that gives advice to the most vulnerable people in and around Birmingham, including those in debt; people facing homelessness and poverty, families threatened by eviction and people discriminated against at work.

The Law Centre needs to raise at least £100,000 by the end of this year – and more in subsequent years, so it can continue to help the 2,000 people a year who currently benefit from its expert legal advice, support and representation.

Birmingham Law Centre offers a unique service and We are different from most other ‘advice agencies’ - we can represent people in the highest courts – and get real resolution to their problems.

I’m aiming to raise £10,000 by running the EDF Half Marathon together with a team of Law Centre runners. I am also doing the Wolverhampton Half Marathon and the Great North Run.

I will update this site from time to time to keep you in touch with how we are getting on with our training and fundraising.
