Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am taking part in the Great London swim to raise money for Obstetric Cholestasis (OC) research. This disease is a pregnancy-related liver disorder that can result in premature delivery and stillbirth.
I work in a research lab at Imperial College London in the Institute of Reproductive and Developmental Biology, and I am involved in identifying the genetic factors that make some women susceptible to getting this disease.
Our research is also supported by a patient organization that helps women with OC and their families - their homepage is http://www.ocsupport.org.uk/index.html
This has lots more information about this disease - have a look to find out more.
So to raise some money I'm going for a swim. In the Thames. One mile - that's 65 lengths of the Imperial College pool at South Ken, or 81 of the St Mary's pool.
Proof of my intensive training can be found at http://gallery.me.com/phdixon and twitter.com/peteriverswim
