Story

Ok, this is the deal in a nutshell (visit ramshacklerally.com for more details) - 8 of us (Graeme Brown, Ben Campbell, Kim Dawson, Olivia Maclaren, Dave Martin, Andrea Smart, Pete Smart & Carrie Smith) have entered the Ramshackle Rally Valencia.

This means driving all the way from Calais down to Valencia in 2 cars, taking the (very) scenic route and all being well arriving in Valencia just in time for La Tomatina - the famous festival of the tomato which essentially involves 30,000 people hurling tomatoes at anything that moves. We'll be set top secret challenges along the way too which will no doubt involve loss of dignity, clothes, mind... whatever.

There is a catch however, and this is the simple fact that the cars we use to make this epic journey can only be purchased for a maximum of £100. Not £105, not £100.28p - you get the idea. We all figured this slightly unhinged way of spending a week was a good excuse as any to raise some money for a good cause, so go on, give what you can.

***Update*** We now have our chariots as can be seen on the left. Rest assured that they look better in photo than in real life but i think we've done quite well. The Rover is almost the length of the English Channel so a ferry might not be necessary after all!

***Update*** Its the week of the rally and the cars have been themed. The guys are going as Starsky, Hutch & Friends and the girls are going as the Pink Ladies from Grease. There are some decals still to add (and a flashing red light for the Rover of course) but they're just about ready to ramshackle!

***Update*** We made it!!!! The Starsky & Hutch-mobile survived the final day with the alternator eating itself and the pink ladies car sailed through with only a minor electrical niggle which meant smoke pouring out from under the dash for a few minutes on day 3. A tribute to £100 cars i think you'll agree. Not everyone was so lucky - there are too many to list but please bow your heads for all those brave chariots that never made it....

Thanks everyone for your help and donations.
