Story
Dear all, thanks for taking time to look at Pete and Sarah's fundraising page :)
Here is the plan for our time in Ethiopia:
After flying into Addis Ababa where we will stay for a 2 weeks at The Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital visiting Sarah's Grandmother. We'll then travel to the town of Debre Zeit where we will live and work for for over 10 weeks from October to December 2012. Once we are there we'll be teaching English, IT and sport to school children as extra curricular activities.
Though rather nervous as the prospect of this we really wanted to spend some time to help improve the opportunities of some of these children. We're also excited about living as part of the local community to understand the challenges that they are confronted with on a daily basis.
Once our time with Link Ethiopia ends we hope that the experience may help us find other voluntary or paid work in the region.
After doing research and talking to contacts in Ethiopia we had may excellent recommendations about Link Ethiopia and their work so we are sure the money will be well spent!
We have funded half of the total costs ourselves but we appreciate any help in raising the rest so please help.
Pete and Sarah :)
For some background on Link Ethiopia see below:
Link Ethiopia’s vision is an equal and just world in which poverty and social injustice are eradicated and basic human rights and a decent quality of life are assured.
They believe education is a vital tool to promote understanding and give disadvantaged children the tools to achieve their full potential.
Their two main aims are:
- Providing access to quality education for children aged 7-18 with the broader aim of empowering people to lift themselves and their communities out of poverty.
- Fostering positive communication and interaction between people of different cultures in order to raise awareness of similarities, shared goals and our global interdependence.
