My story

As those of you who know me will realise, I'm fond of the odd lager or three; through the years - drinking in strict moderation and purely for medicinal purposes, I do have a tendency to let my guard down during these brief and infrequent moments of drunkenness.  And so it was, during one such moment, that my wife Sheelagh persuaded me to run the Great North Run with her.  Having read up on the race (after agreeing to do it, a bit late some may say), it turns out that we're going to be running a half marathon, 13.1 miles or 21 kilometres.  Whichever one you choose to read, it's a very long way for my poor feet to run, and it's apparently made all the more tough by the fact that it's in "the north" though this last point is unsubstantiated.

To give me motivation to train for this and to raise money for a very worthy cause, I've chosen to run the race in aid of Leukaemia Care who provide care and support to people whose lives are affected by leukaemia, lymphoma and allied blood disorders.  They provide welfare not only for patients, but families and carers too.  They are entirely funded by voluntary donations - receiving no funding from the lottery commission or the government so your donation will really count and help them continue to provide this vital service.  Please give generously.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now, and remember to click the "giftaid" box if you're a UK taxpayer.

Many thanks,

Pete
