Story
Derek, Steve and Pete will be doing the Corrieyairack Challenge again in July. Our team name is Spooky's Chimps.
The event raises money for The Badaguish Cairngorm Outdoor Centre, which is a small independent charity helping children and adults with learning difficulties and other special needs. This includes a fully staffed programme and purpose built Activity Holiday Unit which people with disabilities can visit unaccompanied (24 hour respite care).
The cycle has been extended this year by an extra 9 miles to over 50 miles in total. The event starts with a 17 mile mountain route over the Corrieyairack Pass from Fort Augustus to Laggan which is immediately followed with a 35 mile cycle on the road. We start at 80ft above sea level eventually reaching the summit (2,350ft) after 10miles. The next 7 miles may be downhill but it is over some treacherous terrain which makes it just as hard as going up!! This is followed by the road cycle which is far from flat with a killer hill to conquer at the very end.
