Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be doing a FIREWALK (crazy I know) on Friday 3rd of September, in Largs, to raise funds for a charity that is very close to all of our families hearts, Ayrshire Cancer Support.
I have been looking for an activity to help raise funds & as anyone who knows me will tell, I couldn't run a Marathon, do an Iron Man or any other intense sporty, manly activities.
Then someone suggested a fundraiser which I'll meet "hot" people I don't know yet, the people I do know will donate lots of cash to see this happen to me (there will be a video) & best of all I won't need to do much physical activity (just a short stroll) & there will be "a drink" in it after the event ....... what's NOT to like in that description, "sign me up now before there's no spaces left" I'm thinking! Brilliant!
Few days later the forms arrive .... Firewalk, oh naw, what have I done? Quickly read all the safety info. provided & that allayed my fears. No worries. It's all good. (calming music playing in background).
"Walking across red hot coals", Yep
"In your BARE feet" Yeees (feeling less confident now)
"Is it safe Dad?" Of ... course ....it ....is ...(struggling to answer my son's questions whilst hyper-ventilating).
I'm starting to panic now .... I know, I'll go to my ever supportive, loving & caring, wife of 25 years, for a MUCH needed confidence boost. Yeah that'll work.
"FIREWALK" she shouted casually, "are ye MAD! You'll get all burned!" .........
"Wait a minute" she said "it's for charity?"
Yes I replied "Oh that's alright then". When I asked my lovely what she meant by that, answer she replied .....
"There's loads of people would pay good money to see you burn"
So with that final thought & to help boost my confidence I am asking you all for a donation, no matter how small, it all helps. And please also add the Gift Aid option as it allows the charity to claim 28p back from the Government for every £ donated here.
I hope my "humour" has not offended & you could show some support by making a MUCH needed donation.
Thank you in advance, Peter
