Hi
Once more I am again planning to give up wine for Lent. From the beginning of Ash Wednesday, 22nd February, to midnight on 7th April, Easter Saturday (46 days, not the 40 it talks about in the Bible) not a drop of wine will pass my lips - nor any other alcohol! I am passing on to Solace all the money this will save - plus a bit more - and if you would like to make an encouraging donation, that would be marvellous.
Solace offers counseling and psychotherapy to asylum seekers and refugees in Yorkshire and Humberside. Asylum seekers, in particular, are among the most reviled people in our society but also the most needy. Many of Solace's clients have been imprisoned, tortured, raped and seen family and friends murdered. But, extraordinarily, many report that the experience of applying for asylum in Britain is worse: uncertainty, poverty, intermittent imprisonment while waiting – perhaps for years - for a verdict from a system which is notoriously flawed. Half of asylum seekers have mental health problems and some are suicidal.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thanks for your support!
