Queen Anne’s Ambulators are friends of “Ambulator”, the originator of 1711 Walk, London's first Pop-Up Baroque Church Crawl.
1711 Walk is a walking route of a little over 17 miles running from Greenwich to Westminster. It links 12 of London’s finest Baroque churches (or, one case, its ruins). It has been devised to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Queen Anne’s Act for Building Fifty New Churches. For more information, visit the 1711 Walk website.
On Sunday 12th June 2011, the exact anniversary of Queen Anne’s Assent to the Act, her Ambulators will be walking the entire 1711 Walk route in support of the National Churches Trust 1711 Fund.
The 1711 Fund is a new ring-fenced, restricted fund created by the NCT to coincide with the launch of 1711 Walk. From it, the NCT will be able to make grants to support the preservation and restoration of the nine Queen Anne Churches still in use as places of worship. For more information, visit the NCT website.
