Story

As part of the fundraising campaign for St Mary Magdalen's, I have undertaken to memorise half the contents of the New English Hymnal. This comes to approximately 260 hymns...

I will be tested in this challenge in church on Saturday 23 October, as any listener is invited to choose a hymn from the list I've (supposedly) memorised.

If I make a mistake, as a forfeit I promise to sing from an alternative list of Gilbert and Sullivan songs.

This is my chance to make a contribution to our parish's fundraising appeal. The recent growth and vibrant life of St Mary Magdalen's has led to exciting new opportunities - and with them, challenges. Sustaining our ministry and mission responsibly needs commitment from everyone who has known and loved our remarkable church.

Your support in this adventure is really valued. Please help me in my 'Half-a-Hymnbook' Challenge by making a donation, and coming along on 23 October if you can for plenty of hymns and a little light opera.

About the charity

The Trust raises funds to support the mission of St Mary Magdalen, a church in the centre of Oxford whose ministry reaches far beyond that city. It is an island of stillness amid the rush of its surroundings, and houses an ever-growing worshipping community in the catholic tradition of Anglicanism.
