Kilimanjaro Summit Climb - Lemosho Route · 6 October 2010

Railway Children has a vision of a world in which no child is lost to the streets. Across the UK, India and Tanzania, our networks provide an opportunity for us to reach children who are alone and vulnerable before they come to serious harm. Together, we’re determined we’ll leave no child behind.

Story

I am off to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, in order to raise much needed funds for the Railway Children Charity.

The actual trek will take 8 days starting in the rainforests of Lemosho Glades and heads upwards to Shira Plateau. The push for the snow capped summit starts in the moonlight with the aim of reaching the highest point, Uhuru Peak in time for the sunrise. You can find further details on the expedition on the charity challenge website.

In addition to the physical challenge I am also looking to raise a minimum of £5,000 for the Railway Children Charity which is a challenge in itself! The charity does fantastic work around the world by helping and changing the lives of distressed children with a particular aim of stopping a runaway child becoming a street child.

You can find out more about the charity here: http://www.railwaychildren.org.uk/

Can you help by digging deep and sponsoring me online? Any amount, large or small, will be gratefully received.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Railway Children will receive your money faster and for every £10 you give as a UK taxpayer, the charity receives almost £12

Many thanks in advance for your support!
