Addenbrookes Sailing Challenge · 22 July 2011

We want to ensure that every patient at Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals experiences the highest quality of care available. We raise funds for cutting edge technology, additional specialist staff and extra comforts for patients, over and above what is possible with NHS funding alone.

Story

The purpose of The Addenbrookes Sailing Challenge is to help raise money for Addenbrookes Hospital who are desperately in need of a new model of robot - to treat people with prostate, testicular, kidney and bowel cancer.  This robot technique aids quicker recovery times, reduces the effect ot the surgeon's movements on the accuracy of the operation, and performs a variety of increasingly complex procedures.  The machine costs in excess of £1 million, so Addenbrookes need all the help they can get.

Our aim is to sail from Southampton across the English Channel to Cherbourg on the northern coast of France. Weather permitting, it should take approximately 24 hours to sail there and back. Cast off will be on Friday 22nd July, returning on Sunday 24th July. The team target is to raise £10,000 and I am aiming to raise £200 towards this.  So please dig deep and donate now.
