Story
All over - managed to complete all five days in around 23 hours 10 minutes give or take a few minutes. It was a most enjoyable challenge (well some of it) WITH SOME GREAT PEOPLE TAKING PART all for their own reasons, but all wanting to raise money for a great cause. Big thanks go to the organisers and the helpers for keeping us going, fed and watered. Also to those on route for their support. But MOSTLY I would like to thank ALL OF YOU for your sponsorship.
If you want to see what you are capable of then give this a go!
Hi I'm a 57 year "old man" and hope you can help, for 29 years I served in the Royal Navy (FAA) and had a varied but great life. Having served in the Falklands(HMS Coventry), in support of the Bosnia and Gulf campaigns I now look at Iraq and Afghanistan and the work the forces are doing.
I find it quite humbling how the current crop of serving personnel suffer in silence and seem to get little or no support from many quarters for their sacrifices (in many cases the ultimate one). You hear of soldiers getting paltry compensation for their injuries whilst people who are discriminated against seem to get many times the amount, not right!!
So I thought I would try and do my bit to help support those veterans from all conflicts by doing(or trying to do) the five marathons in five days to raise money for (http://www.project65.net/about-project-65). it's a great cause and I would be extremely gratefull for any support you can give.
Training update: Up to 85 miles a week now and going well. Done over 600 miles already this year ! Hopefully the cold weather is nearly gone now, the -5 runs in the morning on the way to work have been a bit extreme !! Managed to do 100 miles plus over Easter so am now hopefull I can do the other 33 !!
TWO DAYS TO GO - all is well except the weather, at least it should not be too hot. I would like to take this oportunity to thank all who have donated so far. I will let you all know how I got on.
