Story
Every year the number of people using the Thames estuary for either pleasure or work increases.
Over the last five years the RNLI Southend-on-Sea volunteer lifeboat crews have saved the lives of over 600 people and spent hundreds of hours at sea.
In 2011 they launched 110 times and are consistently one of the busiest lifeboat stations around our coastline. It is therefore imperative that we continue to give them the right equipment and operating environment to keep up with this growing demand for their rescue services.
These incredible ordinary people, and their sympathetic families, urgently need your help to do this.
Already the new slipway has streamlined the launch and recovery of the hovercraft making it faster and safer, but it is difficult to carry out maintenance on this rescue unit in the current temporary building and its crew have no training or casualty attendance area. This is placing their lives and others at unnecessary risk.
However there is a solution available………
We need just another £75,000 to complete the £1 million project that will provide our crews with the boathouse and operating resources they need to keep themselves and others safe.
Please help us by donating to help save lives and keep our brave volunteers safe.
Please give generously as you never know when you may require the service!
This cause is very important to me as I use to be a lifeguard at a local swimming pool and know the importants of being able to swim but the best swimmers can get into difficults and this is when this organisation becomes most important particularly living close to the sea as well.
Thank you in advance of your kind donation.
