Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Please would you sponsor me in aid of my work with Canon Andrew White, the Vicar of Baghdad, and his charity, the Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East?

The 15 Peaks challenge involves summiting every mountain in Wales above 3000 feet in under 12 hours.

That’s a 32 mile run, climbing over 3,600 meters or 11,000 feet, in under 12 hours.

As you may have seen on the news, 6 churches in Bagdad were bombed last Sunday.  Fourteen people were killed, merely for choosing to worship God in a certain place.  Against advice, Andrew has gone back there.  I’m not surprised, of course.  He’s needed there now more than ever, working with religious leaders across the ethnic and sectarian divides of Sunni and Shia, Arab and Kurd, in their work towards finding a lasting and sustainable peace for their people.

But last weekend’s events do create some urgent financial needs.  We need to provide increase security at St George’s church and the medical clinic if they, and Andrew, are to be kept safe.  And these bombings will increase the demand for humanitarian relief work, as the injured are brought to the clinic for treatment, and the bereaved of all faiths turn to the church for support.

Do you think you could help us to help them?

Of course, the challenge of the 15 peaks is nothing on the challenge of finding a peaceable solution in Iraq.  Yet we believe that it is possible, but it will need courage and perseverance, both of which Andrew White has in spades.
