Mencap wants a world where people with a learning disability gain an equal right to choice opportunity and respect. We believe that support for the families and carers of people with a learning disability is vital to achieving our vision

Story

On 11th August 2013, I will set of from the south of France with a bicycle and some minimal camping gear, cycling between 110-160km a day, with the hope of reaching Rome in 7-10 days.

The total distance, minus any detours I might make to find food, water or shelter (or do a lap of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit), is 1,077km.

I'll be blogging about my preparations and my progress at ridetorome.wordpress.com.

Mencap is a great charity, working hard to give people with learning disabilities a fair chance in life. I'm going to be sweating myself silly for over a week to do my bit to help.

Please give what you can and encourage others to do the same.
