My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Everest Base Camp JustGiving page. This is my latest challenge to raise money and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Ill be away for 19 days trekking through the Nepalese Himalaya to reach the famous base camp. I've scaled Kilimanjaro and run numerous races (including the London Marathon in April 2012) this seemed like the logical next step.

Why am I doing all this? Apart from a mad streak, its all to say thank you and help others who need it at a dark time of their lives. For those who may be new to my story; two years ago I was diagnosed with aggressive bone cancer in my upper arm.  I was swiftly operated upon with my upper arm bone being replaced with a stainless steel prosthesis (see photo!). I have permanent limitations on my shoulder now and have had two years of physio and a further operation to get  it to its full limited capability. I am currently clear and have regular monitoring.

My family and I were given tremendous suport from Macmillan during a very worrying and emotional time. As a thank you to Macmillan, to help them help others Ive embarked on ongoing challenges to raise money. This jaunt in the mountains is the next challenge!
