My story

Oh crikey..I've ony gone and got a place in the London Marathon 2012...!!!

Thanks to my fantastic running club Fareham Crusaders I was lucky enough to get a place in the ballot. I'm using that place as my next fundraising challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support.  I've done Kilimanjaro, tick,  Great South and North Runs, tick...This is the next big challenge. April 22nd 2012. The countdown begins.

Why Macmillan? For those who may be new to my story; two years ago I was diagnosed with aggressive bone cancer in my upper arm.  I was swiftly operated upon with my upper arm bone being replaced with a stainless steel prosthesis (see photo!). I have permanent limitations on my shoulder now and have had two years of physio and a further operation to get  it to its full limited capability. I am currently clear and have regular monitoring.

My family and I were given tremendous suport from Macmillan during a very worrying and emotional time. As a thank you to Macmillan, to help them help others Ive embarked on ongoing challenges to raise money. This 26.2 mile run is the next challenge.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. You can also donate by text by sending "PETE72 £1" (or £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10) to 70070
