Two friends have persuaded me to enter the Great North Swim on 23rd June. Now I am no Olympic swimmer, in fact I have never had a swimming lesson in my life and can only do a very slow breaststroke, so slow in fact, that I keep getting overtaken in the slow lane by people a fraction of my age at our local pool! The event involves swimming one mile of Windermere, a lake that is outside in the open and very, very, very cold! I have decided to try and raise some funds for the Preston branch of Samaritans where I am a volunteer. Wish me luck!
