ChildFund Australia is an independent international development organisation that works to reduce poverty for children in developing countries. We partner to create community and systems change, enabling vulnerable children and young people, in all their diversity,to assert and realise their rights.

Story

By helping us with the #CambodiaWaterChallenge, you will help almost 1,000 primary school children in Cambodia access clean water and toilets at school.

Sadly right now, poor sanitation, unsafe drinking water and unhygienic practices cause millions of children in the developing world to die needlessly from preventable diseases. Diseases like typhoid, hepatitis and diarrhoea can be fatal for vulnerable young children.

The money you raise will provide five primary schools with safe drinking water sources, toilets and hand-washing facilities.

A common reason for young girls to drop out of school is having shared or no access to toilets. With your help, these primary schools will have separate toilets for girls and boys, to offer young girls privacy and safety, and allow them to continue their education.

Each school will also organise educational sessions, where hand washing and other hygiene practices will be taught to all children. Further training will be given to teachers and village volunteers to maintain the new water systems. This means you’ll be helping generations of children who will attend these schools over the coming years.

On the Cambodia Water Challenge, we’ll visit some of the schools and see firsthand the project that you helped to fund. We’ll also meet the amazing children and families your generosity has supported.
