Back Up services include mentoring, wheelchair skills training and activity courses as well as support in getting back to work or school after an injury. We provide peer led tailored support to help people adjust to a spinal cord injury and inspire independence and confidence for a positive future.

Story

Thank you for visiting my page.

On Saturday 25th September, I will be setting out (and hopefully finishing!) to walk from my office in London all the way to Brighton in Sussex - 55 miles.....in one day.  It just seemed like a good idea at the time!

The reason I'm doing this is to raise money for The Back-Up Trust to support the brilliant work they do with people with spinal injuries. I've been privileged to have been involved with Back-Up for a few years now, and their ability to help change lives for the better is amazing. I have friends who will point to Back-Up courses and say these were pivotal moments in their lives.

However, as they are a charity they depend upon donations to be able to continue their good work. This is what your money could buy.

·         £25 will enable one person with spinal cord injury to attend a wheelchair skills session in their local spinal unit. Here participants will have the opportunity to learn skills from Back-Up volunteer wheelchair skills trainers that will help them lead a life as independent as possible.

·         £60 will contribute towards enabling one mentee to meet up with their mentor to do an activity together, which will help the mentee gain confidence in the future.

·         £120 will enable one participant to undergo a day of activities on a multi activity taster weekend.  The multi activity courses allow participants to try things that they did not think would be possible following their injury. They give those with spinal cord injury the opportunity and motivation that life can still be fulfilling and ambitious.

So, if you feel you can help support that would be brilliant. Thank you so much in advance!

Peter
