Welcome to my JustGiving Page Petra Helm for Comic Relief.
About my Giving Hour
I am lucky enough to have won a place on the fourth plinth One and Other project in Trafalgar Square.
2,400 people each have one hour for 100 days, to do as they choose on the plinth.
During my hour I would like to raise awareness of 10 great charities I support.
My aim is to raise £100 each, so £1000 in total.
Please follow links at the bottom of this page for more information.
Why Comic Relief?
Have you heard of tragic events and felt like you can't change them? I did too... and then Comic Relief burst onto the scene in a riot of red noses and laughter. Their short films showed the improvement to peoples lives in desperate situations. My children can see the big picture and totally get why we're fund raising for Comic Relief. Having a bit of fun along the way just helps! Once a year we do the dressing up, the discos, the 3 legged race etc. The hard work goes on all year round.
Sport relief continues the great work in a fun fit fashion. Currently Eddie Izzard is running for sport relief, a mega 30 miles a day for 6 days a week 1100 miles in total. More information on the Sport relief homepage here.
From Eddie Izzards website : London to Cardiff to Belfast to Edinburgh and back to London, running
through as many parts of the UK that lie in between our 4 capitals. Eddie's Blog here.
With the amazing support of the general public (wow that's us) Comic relief raised £80 million for Red Nose Day 2009.
Donating grants to agencies already in place, money has an immediate positive impact where it's needed.
In the UK: Youth projects, community programmes, vulnerable people, older people.
Overseas: emergency response, HIV and AIDS, street and working children, trade, urban slums, women and girls.
They help so many regions and people I don't have space to name them all here!

On Christmas Day In 1985, we launched Comic Relief from a refugee camp in Sudan.
Comic Relief funds projects across the UK, Africa and throughout some of the world's poorest countries. We try and tackle a wide variety of problems that poor, disadvantaged and vulnerable people face.

I would like to thank Comic Relief for putting the fun in fundraising, picking a nose and running with it.
