Story

Thank you so much to all my sponsors and supporters.  Your support and good wishes have really made preparing for and running the Marathon for CAFOD enjoyable. Hopefully you have had some fun too. Endless, endless thanks also  to my brilliant husband Mike, without whom I would never have made it. Thanks to to Andrew our training manager and coach, I can recommend him highly and to Deb, my fund raising manager .  It was great to share the experience with friends who were preparing for the marathon and raising money too - thanks girls.

I completed the marathon in 4 hours and 55 minutes, a little longer than I was hoping for, but it is still a great feeling to have run a marathon. The day was nerve racking to start with, but good fun and made even better by knowing that there were so many people there cheering us on - sorry to all of those I did not actually see, but I am sure I heard you.

Thank you so much once again for all the funds you have donated.

Best Wishes

Petra

CAFOD is a charity which promotes long-term development, responds to emergencies, raises awareness of poverty, speaks out on behalf of poor communities, and promotes social justice.

Their work is broad-ranging, across countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, helping the world’s poorest communities, and those affected by conflict or natural disaster. They also use funds to increase awareness of the causes of poverty, helping people campaign to bring about change, and to speak out on behalf of poor communities, challenging governments and international bodies to promote equality and justice.

CAFOD (part of the international Caritas network) helps people regardless of race or religion.  Money raised can provide:

For £3 - childhood immunization for one child

For £17 - school fees, uniform and books for one child for one year

For £50 - a bicycle for a village health worker, or a coolbox for vaccines

For £100 - a teacher's salary for one month.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they will not sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to CAFOD and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

About the charity
