Keyworth Turkey Trot 1/2 Marathon · 13 December 2009

EVERY 90 SECONDS someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury (ABI). There are many possible causes, such as a fall, a road traffic accident, an assault, a tumour or a stroke. A brain injury can happen to anyone, at any time. When it does, we're here to help

Story

Many thanks to those who sponsered me for the Turkey Trott today, it was hard work especially when the rain came down about mile 6 and lasted for a good 40 minutes. I completed the run in 1.50:20 so I am pleased to have got round and in a reasonable time. As you can see in the photo I got a souvenir hat for completing the 1/2 marathon (Nice !!)

If you still want to sponser me, you can do so and a reminder below why I ran for the Headway Charity

Two years ago my Father-in-Law was taking his usual early morning trip to work by bicycle when he was hit by an articulated lorry. The impact immediately rendered him unconcious and he was transported to hospital by ambulance, where he was placed into intensive care. Just before Christmas, the doctors gave him him little chance of coming out of his coma, and therefore little chance of survival at all. At the end of January 2008 he started to come out of his coma but didn't fully regain conciousness until March, having suffered a traumatic head injury. The family have been supported in numerous ways in his ongoing rehabilitation following his brain injury, and I have chosen to support Headway as they offer support and rehabiliation to those who have suffered head injuries.
