I am raising money for Tommy's (www.tommys.org). Your donation will go towards searching for ways to prevent miscarriage, premature births and stillbirths. This is a topic close to my heart, as, like many, many others, Katie and I went through a 1st trimester miscarriage and (even as scientists) we were shocked by the lack of understanding of what happens in those vital, early stages of pregnancy. Since then, we have been lucky with the birth of our lovely daughter Isla, but many others are not so lucky. So please donate generously to this good cause.
But, what am I doing to in return? Over the coming months there will be numerous money-raising efforts, many of which I expect will result in me looking somewhat foolish, culminating in the IBI Board expedition to Kilimanjaro in February. Well worth a couple of quid!
