Story

Day 6 Garstang to Bridgnorth 172 km / 107 miles.

Day 5 Annan, Dumfries to Garstang 171km / 106 miles.

We knew this leg had two things to look forward to, firstly crossing the border back in to England at Gretna, and shortly afterwards the climb up Shap. As it turned out this was to be one of the best days riding we had. We camped at Guys Thatched village which also presented us with the chance to have a few drinks - the first of the trip so far !!

Day 4 Lochranza, Arran to Annan nr Dumfries 192 km / 120 miles.

Early hillclimb across Arran to meet the ferry at Brodick, because it was Easter Sunday first sailing not until 11am so we had plenty of miles to do before we reached our camp at Annan nr Dumfries - another long day in the saddle compounded by having no mobile signal and not having address of campsite ! Still we got there eventually.

Day 3 Oban to Lochranza,Isle of Arran - 108 km / 66 miles.

Thankfully a short day after late finish evening before, again gorgeous scenery on Kintyre and just in time to make the last ferry onto Arran - a wonderfully quiet, remote unspoilt place the best part of the whole trip and definitely recommended.

Day 1 - Wick to Dingwall, Day 2 Dingwall to Oban. 331km / 204 miles.

Satnav was left on overnight, hence 2 days in one, we had wanted to see the Great Glen and somehow thought that riding on the B road at the side of Loch's Ness, Ochie etc would be flat, how wrong were we !! But some great views to be had with all the hills.

Day 0 - JOG to Wick. 27 km / 17 miles

We arrived at JOG approx 3pm Wednesday following the long drive up from Littleborough, a leisurely 17 miles to campsite in Wick saw us get a head start.

Daily updates will appear here once we begin, just over two weeks to go now !!!

Between 23rd April and 3rd May we are riding the 1000 or so miles from John O' Groats to Lands' End.

As we are keen cyclists we decided to do this for fun and as a personal challenge. However lots of people have suggested that whilst we're doing this we would be daft not to try to raise a few pounds for charity.

We've chosen to support charities that have personal meaning to us, and we hope you agree they are worthwhile causes.

So in addition to The Prostrate Cancer Charity we are also supporting :-

Francis House - care for terminally sick children & their parents.

http://www.justgiving.com/Phil-Hunt1

Help for Heroes - supporting ex-servicemen and women.

http://www.justgiving.com/Phil-Hunt4

Unison Welfare, bucket & spade appeal - supporting union members.

http://www.justgiving.com/Phil-Hunt2

To donate to one of these alternative causes just click on the link and it will take you to the relevant page.

We appreciate times are hard at the moment, but if you can spare a small amount it will be greatly appreciated and go a long way to helping these worthwhile causes.

Thanks for taking the time to visit ourJustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
