Udate: Finished the mile in 36.15 (up held family pride just) - exhausted but elated

Hi All

I am taking part in the Great North Swim on the 13th September – 1 mile in Lake Windmere, with the expected water temperature likely to be at best 17 degrees.

I ended up in this due to my mum stitching me up, as last year my brother in law Mark and my sister Liz did it with him finishing quicker, so my mum said that I would beat him this year (I think she believes I am still 15 years old and relatively fit).

Anyway training has gone fairly poorly and still to wear the wetsuit I will be swimming in (picture attached not sure I will get in it).

However I will be swimming on behalf of the Rugby League Benevolent fund – both for what I have had out of the sport and also due to Matt King an academy player I was coaching who broke his neck in a match and is paralyzed from the neck down

Hope ypu can support as much as you can

Cheers

Phil Jones
