I have 2 signed Ospreys to give away. This will be via a draw from the names of my sponsors during the week of the event.

Beating Bowel Cancer is a charity that is very relevant to my family. A couple of years ago my father survived the disease so I really want to thank everyone for the excellent treatment he had by raising money to support the vital research work and support services funded through this excellent organisation. One in 4 people will have their lives impacted in some way by bowel cancer so please be as generous as you can.

This is a huge challenge for me. I am not built like a typical cyclist so I will really have to work hard to complete this challenge. This has been the longest, coldest winter that I can remember and the spring hasn't been much better. Even so I have cycled around 2,000 miles since October. My longest ride so far is 75 miles. The freezing winds that I have been riding in through most of March and April deserves a sizeable donation even without the final event. I'm planning to enjoy the ride on 4th August but before I do there is still a huge amount of training and healthy eating that I need to do. Can everyone in work please stop buying cakes and biscuits!!!

The ride is on the Olympic course, starting at the Olympic Stadium and finishing on the Mall. Before I get there I'll need to get over a couple of big climbs in the Surrey hills after 50 miles.  I also need to complete the ride within 9 hrs. Through the winter I have been out on my bike in all weather. An added incentive is that the Beating Bowel Cancer team captain is Matt Dawson. I can't let him beat me can I?

Please dig deep and support this excellent cause and give me the added motivation to work hard in training, keep off the beer and ride like Wiggo.

Thanks for your support and please pray for some good spring and summer weather.

Phil

I will be tracking my training rides and loading them onto Strava. You can keep up to date with my progress through this link  - #mce_temp_url#
