At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

My father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 63. He died just seven years later, at the age of 70. Over the last few years of his life, he became virtually unrecognisable from the father who nurtured and raised me. It affected me very deeply, and my third album is coloured by my journey through the disease with my father. The song Dripping Away directly deals with my emotional response to the deterioration of my father.

Dripping Away was awarded a semi-final place in this year’s UK Songwriting Contest. The competition received well over 6,000 entries and judges included top producer Stuart Epps (Elton John, Robbie Williams, Led Zeppelin, Bill Wyman, Paul Weller, Oasis), BRIT Award winning producer, songwriter and musical director Simon Ellis (S Club 7, Britney Spears) and the legendary producer, musical director and arranger Richard Niles (Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue, Boy Zone, Take That, Mariah Carey, Cliff Richard).
