Story
I don't think you need me to make the case for Macmillan being a wonderful charity but I thought I would anyway.
Cancer is a horrible disease that comes in many forms and strikes people at random and often completely out of the blue. Macmillan offer real practical support for people in their time of need and often make a huge difference to the lives of those affected and their families.
I know too many people who have had or currently have cancer of one form or another and when the opportunity to raise money for Macmillan came up I knew that I had to do it.
npower does a lot for Macmillan and has organised the rowing challenge that I am doing and is also match funding everything I raise (which is more than nice). I repeat MATCH FUNDING
The challenge? As many of you know I have been training on a Concept 2 rowing machine for about 9 months so the chance to row a full lap of Lake Windermere was too good an opportunity to miss.
Its 21 miles and we are in teams of four, rowing alternately in pairs in old fashioned wooden rowing boats. It will take six to seven hours to complete and I cannot wait!
In the meantime please do support me in this challenge by pledging DOSH!!!.
Anyone who has had a go at rowing in a gym will know its a properly tough exercise so this is a genuine challenge.
STOP PRESS!!!!!
I did Windermere (which was ace) and am now doing a cycle ride from Whitehaven in Cumbria to the coast near Sunderland.
There are spare spaces and it just has to be done!
Best wishes
Phil
