In July 2008, my wife Kelly was diagnosed with a Gestational Trophoblastic Tumour, which required Chemotherapy and other treatments at Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith.
Trophoblastic Disease encompasses a range of illnesses which typically arise from pregnancy. Most of these illnesses are typically very rare and very curable. However the circumstances in which the disease is discovered and the treatment which usually follows can be very traumatic and stressful for all concerned.
Thankfully for us Kelly's treatment (like for the vast majority of others) was successful and in October 2008 the Chemotherapy and treatment finished. Following close monitoring Kelly was given the all clear in October 2009 and she can now fortunatley move on from this and put the disease behind her.
The professionalism and treatment that Prof M. Seckl and his team provide at Charing Cross is exceptional. The care and treatment the staff contribute to the patients is outstanding. The Cancer Treatment and Research Trust continually aid in raising funds for Charing Cross and other Consultants who are together helping to win the battle against cancer.
For this very deserving Trust and Hospital we have decided to raise funds by running the Reading Half Marathon on the 21st of March 2010. if you would like to sponsor Stephen or myself please just click on the donate tab on this page.
ANY DONATIONS GIVEN FOR THIS VERY WORTHWHILE TRUST WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
