My Journey: From Military Service to the Boxing Ring in Support of Woody's Lodge"

 Hey everyone, I'm Phil, a tree surgeon living in Prestatyn. Let me take you on a journey from my military days to the boxing ring, all for a cause that's close to my heart - Woody's Lodge.

 Straight out of school, I joined the Royal Signals and became an RS operator, taking me on adventures across the globe - from the jungles of Belize and the prairies of Canada to the harsh landscapes of Iraq. My proudest moment? Completing P company and earning my Maroon beret and wings. It's a badge of honour I still carry with pride.

 After my military stint, I found my passion as a self-employed tree surgeon, serving the community in Prestatyn. Now, I'm about to step into the boxing ring at the UWCB event on March 16, 2024, not just for the challenge but also to raise funds for Woody's Lodge.

 Woody's Lodge is a charity that's doing incredible work to support veterans. They provide a space for veterans to connect, share experiences, and access the resources they need for a smooth transition to civilian life. The organization is all about fostering a sense of community and offering support, and that's something I truly believe in.

 My journey into the boxing world started as a spectator, watching WCBC nights and realizing I could step into the ring for a good cause. When I discovered I could fundraise for Woody's Lodge, I knew I had found the perfect opportunity to give back to those who've served alongside me.

 Training has been intense - 5 to 6 sessions per week, 1 1/2 to 2 hours each, with a local trainer and at Deeside Fight Club. It's easily the toughest thing I've done since P company, but it's all worth it if I can make a difference in the life of just one veteran through Woody's Lodge.

As I step into the ring, I carry the spirit of a warrior from my military days and the heart of someone passionate about supporting our veterans. Join me in this journey not only for victory in the ring but also for a cause that matters deeply - the well-being of our veterans through Woody's Lodge. Let's make a difference together!
