So far, I've cycled 404.53 miles on my road bike, since getting it in May  - See more information on my blog page....

The inspiration

One in every nine babies in the UK is born premature or sick. That is over 80,000 babies every year. My Daughter, Christine, was born 9weeks premature and thankfully received 1st class care – to see her now you never know that when she was born I could fully support her on the palm of one of my hands…..

Bliss is the only national charity dedicated to improving both the survival and long-term quality of life for babies born too soon, too small or too sick to cope on their own. See their webpage for further information on this worthy cause.

John Lewis have a “Cycling Challenge” every year, and have this year decided to pass any funds raised to support Bliss in their important work – a decision I fully support. To this end I’ve committed to join a group of positively mad cyclists who all work within or for John Lewis in some capacity, as employees, contractors or consultants. My employer, the excellent Mr Bengt Ericsson, of Ericsson Architects, has funded the direct trip costs, Dr Eric Stoddart of St Andrews University has funded travel to and from London, and I am still seeking a sponsor for accommodation in London on Sept 5th - contact me at ezpz.campbell@gmail.com if this could be you.....

The reality

On the 1st September, we set off from London on an epic journey to Amsterdam –  a trip that will take in 285 miles in 3 days, cycling through 4 countries (England, France, Belgium and Holland) – all human powered. You can get more information on my blog

This really IS a challenge for me…..one that I simultaneously find slightly daunting and also exciting.

I’ve recently refurbished and re-assembled my trustworthy Claud Butler road racer and am testing both it and myself (hopefully NOT to destruction) over the coming weeks to push for the durability and speed that will be required if I am not to be cycling well into the night because of the distances involved. It’s not called a Challenge for nothing…..

You can get more information on my progress on my blogpage - ezpc goes cycling.

Please match my level of commitment by donating some of your own..

Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. We rely on donations to fund our work but with one baby admitted to neonatal care every five minutes we don’t have the resources to reach every baby who needs us. Your donation can help Bliss ensure every baby gets the best care.
