Completing the Seven Summits Challenge · 2 November 2013

An Isle of Man charity that facilitates fundraising efforts of families and friends of children who have stayed in Ronald McDonald Houses in the British Isles to raise money

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 2nd November, I set off to achieve my goal of becoming the first person from the Isle of Man to complete the Seven Summits Challenge, climbing the highest mountains in all seven continents.

I became the first person from the Island to reach the summit of Everest in May 2008, which was an incredible experience.

I'll be attempting the last of the seven 'highest' mountains, the imposing Carstenz Pyramid in Papua New Guinea, when I set off on my 21-day adventure..

At 15,629 feet (4,884 metres), it's the highest peak in Australasia and one of the most remote and daunting of the summits I have tackled.

If I reach the top, it will complete the mountain odyssey that began when I climbed Kilimanjaro with four colleagues from the Isle of Man Constabulary in 2000.

I have also climbed the highest mountains in Antarctica, North and South America and Europe, leaving just this last push to join an elite 'club' of only 230 climbers ever to achieve all seven summits.

I am raising money for Ronald McDonald House Isle of Man Families and Friends. The charity supports Ronald McDonald Houses all over the UK and these provide a home from home for families of sick and injured children at the time they most need it. Hundreds of Isle of Man families have stayed in one of the houses. It was the cause my colleagues and collected for when we climbed Kilimanjaro, so I am going full circle.

Thank you for supporting me in raising money for this superb cause.
