My story

Thanks very much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am running my sixth London Marathon in aid of two good causes working with children in North London.

The first cause is Rays of Sunshine, a Wembley based charity who since 2004 have done excellent work to fulfil wishes for children who are seriously or terminally ill in North London. Since 2010, they have become Hendon Football Club's nominated charity and have recieved in excess of £3000 through the football club, a sum I am hoping to supplement with my own efforts.

The football club is - indirectly - the second cause, as it is one that is been a large part of my life over the last 15 years and I am currently co-chairman of the Supporters' Trust. Along with Club Chairman, Simon Lawrence, I'm hoping to raise money to help fund the formation of a proper youth section.

Statistics show that people from low income families and ethnic minority backgrounds are more likely than others to fail at school and end up on the margins of society. The communities that are local to Hendon Football Club are areas of low income and house significant numbers of people from ethnic minority groups. A youth section would target young players from these communities to help prevent them from becoming disengaged from society and falling into antisocial behaviour, by focusing their energy in a positive way within a supportive environment.

The intention is for all money raised online and offline to be split between the two causes.

Thanks

Phil
