Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

For the last 2 years Phil has taken part in the Huddersfield Towns charity bike ride Pedal for pounds raising money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Huddersfield Towns Academy. Ollie who took part in the ride last year is also joining the ride for his 2nd year running.

For Phil's 3rd year and Ollie's 2nd year we wanted to do something a little extra.

The official ride for 2014 is approx 250 miles starting from the Emirates stadium London, We will then head to Cambridge, Leicester and Doncaster before heading in to Huddersfield. this will take place over 3 days in April. We are currently in training towards this fantastic event !

In addition to this Phil and Ollie are cycling to the start line by setting off 2 days early and doing 100 miles on 21/04/2014 and 100 miles on 22/04/2014 to then join the official ride on 23/04/2014

Phil and Ollie are looking at mileage of 450 over 5 days depending on how there navigation skills are!

In support for the extra cycle (21/04 - 22/04) Phil's Dad (Nick) and Brother (Rob) will be on hand for the 2 extra days.

"We both hope that doing that little extra will help us get as much support as previous years"

Please read below details about the YAA and the Academy

"The Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) is an independent charity that needs to raise £9990 per day in order to keep both of Yorkshire’s air ambulances maintained and in the air.

The generous donations YAA receive ensure that they can provide a state of the art lifesaving service that has saved so many lives across Yorkshire.

As a charity the YAA plays a vital role in a 999 situation, alongside the other emergency services.

Yorkshire has a vast and beautiful landscape that not only includes isolated and rural locations but also major motorways and populated cities.

Whenever a patient is carried by the YAA they will only be approximately ten minutes from the nearest hospital and approximately fifteen minutes from the most appropriate hospital to treat their specific injury. Receiving specialist treatment so soon after injury is proven to save lives

The Academy takes on players from the age of eight to18. As well as gaining an education in football, the pupils also gain a valuable wider education - just in case their careers in football don’t flourish as expected. The majority of players that have graduated into the first team from the Academy have stayed at Town for a number of years, with several going on to play for higher division clubs."

Thanks

Phil and Ollie

Thank you for choosing to support Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA). As a charity YAA relies on the generosity of individuals & organisations to help save lives across Yorkshire. To keep both of Yorkshire’s air ambulances in the air we need to raise £19,000 per day. Thank you from the team YAA.
