Llanberis MRT is one of the busiest in the UK with an annual callout rate of over 220 incidents. Based in and around the Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) area the team is made up of about 50 volunteers who are all experienced mountaineers. As a registered charity we rely entirely on your donations.

Story

On December 2nd 2010, 2 friends and I are embarking on a trip of a lifetime.  We are going to Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro.  Rising 19,340 feet above sea level, Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa and the world’s highest free-standing mountain.

This is a personal challenge for all 3 of us.  The trip to Kilimanjaro is fully funded out of our own pockets but we thought it would be a great opportunity to raise money for a local charity.  We are all either current or past residence of North Wales. We all got our start for hill walking in and around Snowdonia.  Every time we use the mountains of Snowdonia, we know there are hazards and the terrain must be respected.  Always in the back of your mind you know that if things were to go wrong, the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team are available 365 days of the year in all weather conditions to help.

The Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team is made up entirely of volunteers who live close to Snowdon.  All are skilled and experienced mountaineers turning out in all weathers, day or night, 365 days a year, to help anyone who is in trouble on the hills.  Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, is probably the busiest mountain in Britain.  The sheer volume of visitors coming to Snowdon makes the Llanberis Rescue Team one of the busiest in the country.

The Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team is a registered charity - No. 513913.
In order to fund the purchase of their equipment, specialist rescue kit and first aid supplies they have to rely almost entirely on voluntary donations.
