LAND’S END TO JOHN O’GROATS CYCLE RIDE

24/07/09 to 01/08/09 – 886 miles in 9 days

Families Need Fathers is a charity which is close to my heart as my 14 year old son Aled has not spent any time with me since December 2005.

I did the ride with 11 other members of Port Talbot Wheelers Cycling Club who each completed the full distance. My chosen charity will be Families Need Fathers. Please see below for the route and daily mileages covered.      

I enjoyed the experience inspite of being made redundant on the first day in Cornwall and finding that my wages for July had not been paid as my employer 'In Retirement Services' had gone into administration. Twelve of us completed the ride to John O'Groats with just two punctures and no accidents.

                                                              26/07/09 – Taunton to Hereford – 100 Miles

                                                              27/07/09 – Hereford to Wigan – 127 Miles

                                                              28/07/09 – Wigan to Carlisle – 107 Miles

                                                              29/07/09 – Carlisle to Glasgow – 101.5 Miles

                                                              30/07/09 – Glasgow to Fort William –101.5M

                                                              31/07/09 – Fort William to Tain – 97 Miles

                                                              01/08/09 – Tain to John O’Groats – 87.5Miles
