As some of you know each year i like to try and keep the beer belly at bay by doing some sort of daft challenge.
This year’s challenge means that on Friday (and much of Saturday) i will be trying to complete what is known as a Double Ironman Challenge.
This entails me swimming 7.6km across Lake Windermere from 6.30am to 9.30am, then cycling 180km over the main passes of the Lake District (including Hardknott and Rhynose, via the Fred Whitton course) - 9.30am to 7pm and then cycling another 180km on a slightly odd route from Windermere to Southport - 7pm to 5am, followed by a very slow and steady 84km run (double marathon) around Southport Marine Lake - 5am to 3pm Saturday...or at least that's the plan!
I've got loads of wonderful people accompanying me on each section of the challenge and making sure i am fed, watered and appropriately drugged up (if Lance can do it!!), but if you do happen to feel like a 10km run this Saturday then feel free to join me for a lap around Southport Marine Lake!!
If you don’t fancy the run then I am raising money for the inspiring Good Life Orphanage in Kenya (a country that i know well from my childhood) that has been founded by a couple from near Liverpool who were so moved by the poverty and situation that many Kenyan children faced that they chose to do something positive and pretty amazing about it by building and running an orphanage. There are no administration fees and all the money is used by the orphanage to look after some very needy kids.
I hope you can help the challenge and orphanage by making a donation at http://www.justgiving.com/Philip-Morris3
Many Thanks
Phil
