Cycle Around The World · 16 October 2013 to 17 October 2013 ·

Alzheimer Scotland offers care, information and support to people with dementia and carers in Scotland. Our services include our 24 hour Freephone Dementia Helpline (0808 808 3000), our Dementia Advisors, Dementia Nurses and medical research. We believe nobody should face dementia alone.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer Scotland, supporting the Live Well Campaign, is Lloyds Banking Group's charity partner for 2013 and 2014. By 2020 over 1 million people in the UK will have dementia. Alzheimer's Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. Together with their partner charity, Alzheimer Scotland, they are leading the fight against dementia.

Next week sees the return of LBG's Cycle Around the World Challenge for the third consecutive year. The concept is for colleagues from across the Group to participate by cycling together on static bikes over a 24 hour period in an effort to cover the equivalent distance of travelling around the globe.

Over 500 colleagues will make up teams in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, London, Bristol, Birmingham, Halifax and Jersey with some lucky participants even having the opportunity to take part in such iconic venues as Edinburgh Castle and the London Eye.

I have the slightly less glamorous honour of cycling in the atrium of Port Hamilton...between 1am and 9am.

The event hopes to raise over £250,000 and in order to do so, each participant is aiming to raise at least £200 for their efforts. I would be really grateful for any donations to this worthwhile cause to help see me through the graveyard shift!

Thanks,

Philip
