THE BRITISH ARE COMING
Here’s fair warning to our cross-channel neighbours. With my friends from the North in Sage Cycle Club we’re off to Paris on 15 June 2012 in aid of Cancer Research UK.
... and I’m looking for a fixed donation from your hard-earned dough of £5 – just one crispy fiver, no more, it soon adds up. Last year when I did the Newcastle run some of you were amazingly generous and I want to try to forestall any thoughts that a fiver is too little. The ‘old enemy’ can huff and puff as hard as they like down their Trompes de Chasse, but we’ll be there in Paris, rolling triumphantly up the Champs-Élysées and round the ‘Arc’ before they can say ‘rosbif’. I’m telling you there’ll be a few beers sunk that night, all leave has been cancelled at the Paris Gendarmerie.
Some of my friends from SAGE – iron men and women - are in this for the long haul: cycling down from Newcastle and then (with me) to Paris. We go via Dover and Amiens. It will be a classic run.
I can’t speak highly enough of the work Cancer Research UK is doing to conquer this perennial scourge on humankind which touches us all. If you believe half what your read we seem to be on the cusp of something monumental, what with projects and trials at cell and gene level. I wholeheartedly recommend them as a worthy and noble cause.
With very best wishes
Philip
P. S. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
