Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Having undertook to put myself through a further 3 days in the saddle; on Friday I, together with 70 odd other riders, finished the 5th and final stage of the Dallaglio Cycle Slam - arriving in Murryfield on a cold but bright afternoon. My own speedometer clocked just shy of 1500km (including wrong turns) with the core riders who completed the whole distance covering 2888km (excluding wrong turns).

With an arse like leather and the leg-guns exhausted (although now massive) I have returned strutting around like John Wayne from what everyone in the office is calling a "holiday" but in reality was a 1500km slog across France, South East England and finally Scotland.

The cycle slam visits each of the six stadia involved in the Six Nations rugby tournament and I undertook the second and third stages. The second stage was the longest which started in Nice on the 18 February 2010 and after five days in the saddle, completing over 150km a day covering more than 750km in total, finished at the Stade de France in on 22 February. There wasn't much culture to be taken in cycling round as most of it was spent "admiring" the derrière of the person in front of me and with the group mostly consisting of rugby boys and despite my penchant for wearing pink they weren't that appealing. The third stage was a short 450km hop from to Twickenham which saw me arrive on my doorstep on 26th February.

It was hard but at the same time immensely enjoyable and I have plenty of stories of which I can regale all of you with some and some of you with all as and when we bump into each other.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to everyone who has contributed something, be it big or small, for the worthwhile causes - Sport Relief, the Dallaglio Foundation, Cancer Research Help for Heroes campaign and my main charity DebRA of which there are further details below. As a whole we are well on the way to achieving the the £1m target having currently raised in excess of £700k.

Personally I've currently raised £8k but set myself a revised target of £10k following my additional participation in Stage 3 and the final days in Scotland - so if you have not yet emptied your pockets please take the time to make a contribution.

For those that are interested below are video links of the footage used on the BBC of the ride into Twickenham and the finale to Edinburgh - where if you look closely you will see me "massaging" myself on camera

DebRA is the national charity working on behalf of people in the with the genetic skin blistering condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). DebRA is the only national patient support group and medical research charity in the working on behalf of people living with EB and relies entirely on voluntary donations.
