Tay Sachs is a genetic disorder that causes a relentless deterioration of both mental and physical abilities. By the time a child with Tay-Sachs disease is three or four-years old, the nervous system is so badly affected that life itself cannot be supported. Even with the best of care, all children with classic Tay-Sachs disease die early in childhood, usually by the age of 5, although some do live longer. There is currently no cure for Tay-Sachs or its associated diseases.

To show our support  we decided to raise awareness for this rare disease by participating on a organised 93 mile bike ride of the Essex countryside.

We have decided to cycle on behalf of The CATS Foundation which was created by the parents and friends of a little girl who was diagnosed with Tay-Sachs in March 2011 at the age of 15 months.

The majority of the donations the CATS Foundation we receive will go to the fight against Tay-Sachs and support the continuing research efforts in finding a cure for the disease.

CATS will also provide support to families who are unable to get vital equipment for the well being of their child from the health services.
