Last Friday, we plucked up the courage to sample various bugs and grubs in the name of charity. The 6 course meal consisted of mealworms, crickets, giant leafeater ants, dung beetles, a rather big eyed water bug and tarantula legs. We managed to swallow both our pride and the insects themselves and raised an additional £300 for the Who Cares Trust.

Omar didn't stop there however and went on to run the Reading Half Marathon at the weekend coming in at a very respectable 1 hour 39 minutes. He still has another 3 half marathons and the London Marathon left to run so please show your support and get donating!

Time is ticking away and we are still only 14% into our target.... as i don't trust Omar in this country let alone trekking through the jungle, we have decided to prepare ourselves just in case we get lost in the Andes and will be doing our very own bushtucker trial....to make it worthwhile and for the taste of dung beetles and meal worms to be that littlle bit sweeter please come along support us and donate.. the more money we raise the worse the bug we will eat...

The funds raised will really make a difference to the lives of the children the charity supports....

Over the next few weeks we will also be in store and at central london tube stations collecting small change

When I signed up to supporting the charity, Who Cares, I believed I would be shaking buckets in the local supermarket or selling raffle tickets to my nan. However, it wasn't to be and I was given a choice of three activities to get behind:

The first - cycling from London to Paris .I think the last time I rode a bike was in primary school and I'm not sure I remember how. So that was out!

The second - running the London mararthon. Urm my nick name at school was Pipple the Cripple after my attempts at    PE, there's no way these legs are running 26 miles. Omar, however, will be running the London Marathon to support Who Care's and fundraise for the trek as well as 4 half marathons in the next few months.

So that left me with trekking the inca trail.... an option I thought would be the easiest.... now I'm starting to wonder if it is....

For me the challenge will start at the airport as i'm terrified of flying, having to grab onto whoever's next to me as we take off (Please let it be Ronaldo!).

I'm sure this won't be the toughest part of the trek, however, and I need some encouragement to get me through the 7am trips to the gym so please dig deep and support this charity.

If the early morning gym sessions and altitude sickness aren't enough to pull on your heart strings, I now have the added hinderance of Omar escorting me up the mountain...... I will accept donations in return for leaving him there! I'm sure there are plenty of Peruvian women to keep him busy for a while.
