Story
Me (Philip 'Pip' Jackson) and Tom Parker are students and The University of Sheffield. We met through the university D of E society of which I was president this year.
We are both keen walkers and have often thrown around the idea of doing one of the longer walks in the UK. This June we have decided to finally do it and are walking the Pennine Way, starting at the Sheffield and finishing in Kirk Yetholm. This idea seemed like a brilliant opportunity to raise money for a charity very relevant to our activity, Mountain Rescue.
The standard Pennine Way is 268 miles long, and we believe it will take us roughly 3 weeks. We are starting our walk in early June and will finish close to the end of it. We plan to camp all the way so will be carrying full kit in our rucksacks, making this walk quite a serious challenge.
We are setting our target at £268 to try to raise £1 for every mile we walk on the Pennine Way!
As walkers we both value mountain rescue very highly, despite the fact neither of us has had to make use of them it is extremely reassuring to know they are there in case something does go wrong.
This is an extremely worthy charity and I hold the greatest respect for the people willing to risk their lives for the safety of others in the British countryside.
Please donate whatever you can afford to our cause!
