Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Well I made it around the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon in 4 hours 15 mins - was pretty tough at times but whenever I started to slow down, I thought hard about why I was doing this and remembered all the highs and lows that my wonderful patients have to put up with throughout their treatment and beyond. How could I stop running when I only had to put up with one long hard run - yet in every clinic I meet patients coping with so much and managing to display such grace, bravery, stoicism and determination.

I have been overwhelmed with everyone's generosity and all the very many of you who have called or texted or e-mailed or sent cards with good luck wishes. All the support really helped me to make it around - sorry I didn't manage to spot all of you who came to cheer me on on the day but knowing you were there helped spur me on.

I look forward to using all your generous donations to make the West Middlesex Chemotherapy Unit a much more comfortable space with complimentary tea and coffee for all patients for many years to come

Many many thanks

Pippa Riddle

Pre-marathon message

As an oncologist, I look after lots of wonderful patients who constantly inspire me with their bravery and spirit despite having to put up with some pretty awful treatment for their cancer.

I am running the London marathon this year for each and every one of my patients and to raise money for the Chemotherapy Unit at West Midddlesex Hospital where I work. I hope to give the unit a much-needed 'facelift' and make it a brighter more comforatble place. If funds allow it would be great to buy some pictures and plants, facilities for free coffee & tea, a cold water machine and perhpas also another reclining chair for the treatment room or a TV for the waiting room.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
