Our investigators, lawyers and campaigners fight for those who need it most – people on death row, people held without charge or trial, people tortured and people targeted by illegal and lethal drone attacks.

Story

Yes, we did it. Andy in 01:54:12 and me in a PB (personal best) of 02:02:08. Thanks to everyone who has donated.

-----------------------

We would like to raise some money for REPRIEVE. Minimum donation is £2. Every little helps.

REPRIEVE is a great charity that does very worthwhile work, particularly its campaigns against the death penalty and the help it gives to prisoners on death row. Please visit their site at http://www.reprieve.org.uk/work/ for more details.

I just had an email from Laura Stebbings to tell me about REPRIEVE's work in Pakistan. Here's part of what she wrote:

I’m writing to you from the plane on my way back from Pakistan. A notorious frontline in the so-called ‘War on Terror’, Pakistan also has the largest death row in the world – so is a key legal battleground for Reprieve. I wanted to share with you some of my experiences there, to highlight the crucial work of our hard-working Pakistani colleagues and ask for your support.

After landing to a wave of intense heat, I drove through choking Lahore traffic to meet our colleagues at Justice Project Pakistan (JPP). Led by a visionary young lawyer, Sarah Belal, their office out there mimics Reprieve: it’s small, feisty and staffed by brilliant ninja lawyers. JPP provides free legal representation to the most vulnerable prisoners in Pakistan: those facing the death penalty or held beyond the rule of law in secret prisons, and those facing CIA drone attacks. Its staff works closely with Reprieve’s London lawyers; visiting prisons, tracking down witnesses and providing us with on-the-ground investigative support.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please donate now.
