Story
This is my last sponsored event for AGES, (I promise!) but I'm running the Brussels 20km on May 30th for RETRAK, a truly wonderful street charity who I volunteered with for 2 years, 10 years ago. Goodness....it's slightly alarming seeing that written down! But not as alarming as knowing that there are 100s of little people out there living on the streets, miles away from their parents and having a pretty hideous time. The streets are no place for a child. If you feel you are able, it would be brilliant if you could sponsor me to run this race for these little people, many of whom, with help from RETRAK, do grow up to be fabulous young adults, some of whom I still know and see when I go back to Uganda. As they say on their website:
- £3 will pay for a blanket for a child who has been sleeping on the street
- £5 will enable a child to access urgently-needed medical treatment
- £46 will provide will pay for a child’s school uniform and books – allowing them to complete their education
- £250 will pay for a vocational training course and support, allowing an older street child to earn a sustainable income
Any amount you can give will be gratefully received – and even a small amount can help transform the life of a street child
So if you are able to give, even £3 that would be fantastic! If you'd like to know more about RETRAK, go to their website: http://www.retrak.org/About.aspx
If you're unable to give that's TOTALLY fine - you're still wonderful!
Beaming smiles to one and all,
love Pollyanna :)
