Thanks for taking the time to visit Pompey Pedallers JustGiving page.

Pompey Pedallers are three ex Royal Navy matelots - 'Invincible' Ian Tilbury, 'Daring' Dan Daly and 'Relentless' Roger Jones who are currently in training to take on the gruelling challenge of pedalling from London to Paris in just 4 days in aid of The Royal British Legion. We will be in company with 300 other cyclists to cover the route between the 2 capital cities. The Pedal to Paris 2012 ride starts in Greenwich Park on 30th August and ends at the Arc de Triomphe on 2nd September.

The route takes us through 300 miles of the most beautiful countryside in Kent and Northern France. From Calais the ride sweeps through the Pas de Calais region, throught he charming town of Abbeville; then onwards through the picturesque and historic landscape of the Somme and Oise region of Picardy right to the heart of Paris.

En route there will be ceremonies of rememberance involving both the riders and local communities, who are still deeply thankful for the sacrifice our sevicemen have made to ensure their freedom. The climax of the event is the final ride up the Champs Elysee, arriving at the Arc de Triomphe where an act of Rememberance is held at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier - an awe inspiring and emotional end to what we hope will be a truly memorable cycle ride!

We are aiming to raise £3000 for the Royal British Legion to help provide financial, social and emotional help to servicemen and women past and present, including beneficiaries from recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
