Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Last year our beautiful friend, Alex, lost her fight with Cancer.
She left behind two beautiful children and the youngest, Hope, is poorly.
Hope has recently been diagnosed with Tay-Sachs Disease. Her condition is neuro degenerative and means that she will slowly lose the ability to do things for herself. She won't run and play like other children. As time passes she will degenerate and become totally dependant. It is a progressive disease which is always, sadly, fatal.
Tay-Sachs brings deafness, blindness, paralysis and seizures amongst other symptoms.
Hope will never grow to do the things her mum and dad wanted for her.
For the first time, we have chosen to support the make-a-wish foundation.
Over the coming months and years we can see that they will support Hope and her family in granting her special wishes.
Hope isn't alone in her condition and this charity helps boys and girls with life-threatening and terminal illnesses live their magical moments.
Our fundraising has always been for Macmillan and in memory of Pondie's Nan and our friend Alex.
Pondie has only ever completed running events and this will be the first time she will have completed a cycle challenge.
Katey is a pro having done the London2Brighton moonride last year.
We have committed to cycling 100km at night on October 25th. With a rich history steeped in centuries of ghastly tales, London is one of the world's spookiest cities, where history still haunts the streets, buildings and ancient towers. As the moon casts shadows over Halloween 2013 we will complete a creepy cycle of the city. Passing the haunted landmarks, as we pedal between frightening pit-stops, enjoying a real Halloween celebration.
On a ride where all is not what it seems, it starts beneath the streets of Southwark at 10pm, where Dracula's Crypt has long been a haven of the undead, with ghouls and monsters lurking within the shadowy arches of this vast underground vault. Slipping past the Grim Reaper that guards the door to explore the Count's subterranean London lair.
Starting through a maze of haunted underground tunnels before finally emerging on the streets of London. The Friday Fright Night has begun!
Our 100 km route follows a figure of 8 blood trail across the city - from East to West. Setting out from 10 pm the route loosely follows some of the city's most notorious horror spots...
For good measure Pondie will be dressed as a Fallen Angel, complete with wings and halo. Katey will be a swashbuckling pirate, with an eyepatch and cutlass. (Pray it doesn’t rain!!!)
